FAQ
Here’s answers to some of the more common questions we get asked. If yours isn’t here, then drop us an email.
Product
A. Our organic silk sleepwear is made only from 100% GOTS certified mulberry silk. Natural mulberry silk is cultivated in a pesticide-free and chemical-free environment. Besides being of a superior quality (with the molecular benefits of silk remaining in tact because no chemicals are used), and our silk production process is environmentally friendly and sustainable. Even our silk sleep masks use only natural and organic silk fibers for the inside padding, no synthetic foam or cheap materials. We are proudly microplastic free, even with our packaging.
A. Organic silk sleepwear removes unnecessary chemical additives from the process and is hypoallergenic, dust resistant, moisture-wicking, temperature-regulating, and incredibly soft. Your should check our Science of Silk page to find out more - with no chemicals used, natural sericin and fibroin come to the forefront, and these contain the healing and replenishing properties of silk. Our organic production process also guarantees no rashes or reactions. Plus, organic silk has natural antimicrobial properties, so it's perf for sensitive skin. A. Yes! Silk has been shown to be beneficial for acne-prone skin due to their smooth, hypoallergenic, and less absorbent nature, which minimizes friction, irritation, and the trapping of bacteria and dirt.
A. We're all about ethical and sustainable practices throughout our supply chain. We work closely with our suppliers to make sure our silk is produced in a humane and eco-friendly way. Plus, we maintain fair labor practices and safe working conditions in our production facilities. We have a page just on sustainability if you want to check it out at https://www.sleepwithclementine.com/pages/sustainability.

A. We offer a variety of sizes and styles to suit all preferences and body types. We spend lots of time perfecting our designs and talking with customers to make sure everything is on point. Even recently, we've adjusted our pajama sizing based on the customer feedback we've received. Our website explains the differences in sizings, colors, and patterns. Feel free to reach out and suggest anything you don't see - we'll do our best to expand our collection and include it.
A. Our website has a detailed size chart with measurements for each size. To find your dream pajama fit, take your usual size and keep in mind, we allow for roomier fits.
A. Absolutely! We believe our Clementine Silk is the best of the best. It's the ideal thickness and thread count (22 momme), the highest possible quality (6A), and certified organic. Organic silk has more luster and is smoother to the touch than silk blends, and synthetic fabrics. We run all our silk through an organic sandwash process free of chemicals, and this brings forward the luster and grain of the silk - you'll notice our silk is shinier, smoother, and softer than others. We pride ourselves on our exceptional quality and stand by our products with a satisfaction guarantee.
A. Organic silk is produced using eco-friendly and sustainable practices, without synthetic pesticides, chemicals, or GMOs. We don't use chemical washes on our fabrics or add any nasties to our colors and dyes. Conventional silk, on the other hand, may involve pesticides and chemicals in the cultivation of mulberry trees and silkworms, as well as additives in the dyes, colors, and prints. They can even add chemical coatings to the silk (often marketed as washable silk) which deteriorate the natural benefits of natural silk, and only add to the toxin load on the skin. These chemical processes can be harmful to the environment, crops, and silkworms, but also to your skin, hair, and overall health.
A. Besides the environmental benefits, picking organic silk sleepwear not only gives you a luxurious and comfy product but also supports a healthier lifestyle for your body, skin, and hair. It's smoother on the skin and gentler on the hair. Organic silk is free from additives, chemical washes, and pesticides, and while many other 100% silk products can cause rashes and reactions, Clementine's organic silk doesn't. Even if you don't have sensitive skin, it's a better choice for those who care about their skin's appearance and hair rejuvenation.
A. Silk helps your skin retain more moisture than a traditional cotton pillowcase, which reduces wrinkles and fine lines that form as you snooze. Considering you spend about ⅓ of your day (and your life) resting your head on your pillow, your skin has been proven to show fewer signs of aging when silk is used. Plus, organic silk reduces the chemical load on your skin, boosting overall skin health. And don’t get us started about hair! Find out more about natural fibroin and sericin found in our organic silk at the science of silk page - https://www.sleepwithclementine.com/pages/science-of-silk
A. Certifications can give you peace of mind about the organic and eco-friendly nature of silk products. First, we ensure all our silk products are 100% silk with no blends or additives. Second, we source only the highest quality 22 Momme 6A silk. Third, we use 100% GOTS certified (Global Organic Textile Standard) and OEKO-TEX Standard 100 dyes and coloring. This guarantees that a Clementine Sleepwear silk product is certified organic and free from harmful substances.

A. No! Satin usually refers to synthetic and shiny materials often mixed with microplastics or entirely plastic polyester 100%. Besides snagging easily and lacking the same smooth luster of silk, modern satins are often made from polyester and rayon – both cheap, synthetic, non hydrating, over-heating, and harmful to the hormones and body. Don't be fooled by low-quality brands trying to pass satin off as a worthy substitute. Look for 100% silk, and we recommend only non-toxic, certified organic silk.

A. 6A is the highest grade for silk, indicating superior quality, while 22 momme refers to the weight and density, offering optimal durability and softness. Lesser silk is thinner, lower quality, less sheen, and with less benefits.
A. Yes, we use OEKO-TEX Standard 100 certified dyes, and bluesign approved infused actives, ensuring our products are free from toxic substances and safe for your skin.
A. To ensure proper sleep mask hygiene, it is recommended to clean your sleep mask at least once a week, or more frequently if you have allergies or skin sensitivities.
If you have a Silver Ion or Atelier Medica sleep mask, the infused silver ions mean you can expect to clean and wash your sleep mask around 3-5x less than regular silk, which is already quite resistant to dust and bacteria.
A. Yes—especially when it’s made from 100% organic silk. A silk bonnet protects your hair from overnight friction, breakage, and moisture loss while preserving styles and natural oils. Ours go a step further: Clementine bonnets are consciously crafted to be breathable, non-toxic, and gentle on both hair and scalp. It’s not just protection—it’s restoration, overnight.
A. Yes, we have a dedicated men's collection featuring organic silk pajama sets and boxer shorts designed for both comfort and style. Our sleepwear accessories are for better skin and hair, and we encourage all genders to consider bonnets, pillowcases, and sleep masks for night time routines. The benefits are not restrictive.

A. As a customer, we know that you would not want to purchase a pre-used bonnet, and so we can't accept returns on bonnets which have been worn and tried on. We know it can be frustrating but we're trying our best to have a fair policy for all.
Hair bonnets come into direct contact with hair and skin, making them susceptible to sweat, oils, and other residues, raising hygiene concerns from various regulatory entities which makes it nearly impossible to resell an opened and worn bonnet.
We've worked hard to design bonnets that fit more than 9/10 customers but we also recognize that they won't fit all heads. the adjustable strap helps a lot but keep in mind that for those with a lot of thick hair, you should opt in to our XL bonnet which is due to be released in 2025. For children's heads, the bonnets may be too big.
A. For garments like dresses and pajamas, we're more than happy to exchange your order for another size, as long as it's returned in as-new condition. For our single-size products, we've worked hard to ensure they fit most adult shapes and have designed each product with that in mind. Our hair bonnets feature an adjustable strap, and our sleep masks have a generous elasticized back to stretch when needed.

A. With proper care, 100% organic silk is remarkably resilient. If you hand wash gently, avoid harsh detergents, and air dry out of direct sunlight, your Clementine pieces can last years, developing a beautiful, lived-in softness over time. In fact, silk is one of the strongest natural fibers, and with the right care, it wears in—not out.
A. We recommend hand washing with a light detergent. Some detergents may stiffen the fabric, or it might have been caused by the machine. Either way, if you lightly steam the bonnet, it should go right back to a soft silky texture.
A. To maximize the benefits of your silk bonnet and avoid any potential issues, we suggest you avoid wearing your bonnet with soaking wet hair, after immediate application of hair serums and oils, and to always ensure your bonnet fits well and is clean.
We suggest you avoid the use of any leave-in products that coat the hair to ensure the silk doesn't have direct contact with the hair follicle which would lessen the benefits.
As for wet hair vs. dry hair when wearing the bonnet, it doesn't need to be completely dry, but it's better if it is. Dry or close to dry is the ideal.
A. Yes! This process can take up to a year, but have already begun the journey towards this goal!

A. The infused active ingredients are most effective during the first 2-3 years of regular use, based on a washing routine of 1-2 washes per month. Over time, the benefits gradually decrease to around 60-70% effectiveness, but the silk itself remains a luxurious, high-quality fabric.
A. We recommend the same care you'd take with any silk - there are specific instructions on each product page - IN general, hand washing in cold or lukewarm water with a mild, pH-neutral detergent is a great place to start. Avoid bleach, harsh chemicals, or tumble drying, and always air-dry your products away from direct sunlight. Remember, Silver Ion infused silk requires far less washign than standard silk.
A. Thanks to its antimicrobial properties, silver ion-infused silk requires less frequent washing than regular fabrics. We recommend washing it only when necessary, about 1-2 times per month for most users.
